Race Secretary's Report:

I thought the weather was good on Saturday, (actually it was only good until the end of the meet), but Sunday it was glorious. Blue skies and sunshine all day long. What more could could we racers ask for.

Racing was very exciting with some very close finishes. Scarlet gave an incredible performance and took the meet win. She was most impressive and truly earned the top dog honors. The always consistant Smudge gave her usual fine showing and took second place in the meet. Making Diane Johnson very happy was Kaylee. She ran with great enthusiasm and took third place. Fourth place went to another fine oval racer, Cinder. She ran great but as usual she was the bridesmaid and just missed out on the points. Making a fine comeback after a long lay off from racing, was Tighe. He ran hard and competively and took High Score Best Opposite in Meet and fifth place. Everyone was happy to see Tighe competing again. He is a wonderful oval racer. Deciding she would run all programs and finishing sixth was Miss Shelby. Kim Estes not only had the meet winner with Scarlet but her other pride and joy, Jack The Wonder Dog, finished seventh in the meet. Our Southern California entry Scootaway ran hard and took the eight spot. Rounding out the top ten was Willie in ninth place and Specialty Meet winner Haily in tenth place. Congratulations to all the happy and proud owners.

We had a nice entry of fine running Greyhounds, Afghans and Salukis. Wesley took top Greyhound, Zoom top Saluki and Fadim top Afghan. The Afghans dueled hard all day but Fadim decided it was time to beat his housemate Sturgis. Fadim is just coming into his own and looks like he is going to have a great year of racing. Congratulations to Jane and Bob Bulman and Sally and Don Papin. Your dogs all ran great.

My thanks to Sally and Don for once again letting us host our oval at their wonderful facilty. It is an incredible place to race and we always have a fun and enjoyable time at Windyglen.

To everyone who helped at the meet, my sincere thanks and appreciation. I am indebted to you all. (I really have the BEST group in Whippet racing.)

- Jean Balint (NCWFA Race Secretary).
